2180 upgrade.

Hey guys, I'm boxing my engine this weekend and shipping to Hummel for the Force 1 prop hub machine work. While I'm a part I'm wondering what is the latest greatest best cam for our application? My logbook shows my engine kit was ordered from CB performance so I'm sure the cam is not the best for what we are doing. Also do you guys really think dropping down to 2110 will make that much difference in temperatures and reliability? Everything on the VW sites says it is the most reliable big bore engine. thx, jeff

Hi Jeff:
As I understand it, the best cam for the rpms we operate is the stock cam or the stock transporter cam.  Cams with high lift and long duration don't work well until you get the rpm up over our 3600 rpm max.  What does Great Plains supply in their engines?

 figure someone here would. I was looking at the eagle torque cam on CB site.... all I know is that mine has a "76"stamped in it.. a friend said to just add a 4 degree advanced timing gear to mine...since he was in the vee dub sonerai crowd up till the 90s I figured something  better has came around.since..
 when I flew last mine was really strong, seems like I was pushing 3500 static and my tach I verified with a hand held tach. it would wind up to 4200 in flight. so I don't know if I had a good motor or wrong prop 52/46.... and I'm in Louisiana 76' elevation... so we can make power down  here...!!!!Jeff

got my engine back from Scott Casler at Hummel. have a question.... if I'm buying a new Cam and new lifters does the brand matter? amazon  has  engle 100 with gear and empi light lifters for 169... read somewhere to always keep the lifter brand and cam the same... thx, jeff
