Jack Point
« on: Aug 25, 2017 »
Thought I would share my design for a jack point.  The threaded hole is in a non-stress area between all four axle bolts.  The fixture is a piece of 3/8"-16 all-thread.

Nice idea, Chucker. Here's one I made: a thin sheet that wraps around the leg with an angle welded to the underside. The taper of the leg keeps it from sliding up when jacking. Had a flat at a distant field once and was lucky a mechanic with lots of tools was on site to help me. But next time maybe I won't be so lucky so I carry this with me.

Thanks, Ed

That looks to be nice and compact.  I, like you, wanted something that would fit in my tool kit.  I've seen others similar to yours....but not as small.

Chucker: thanks. I bought new gear and am polishing, polishing, polishing before installing it.

Tim: as wet as the summer has been I'll bet it stuck like Velcro once you finally hit it. I've had the Sonerai at home since April, re-engineering my cooling system and fixing a few other things. Hope to be back at the airport by the end of Sep.

Ed,

Actually, It was so rough I thought I missed the real runway, checked with a couple of guys there and they said I got the right one.  Looked around for you, went to your hangar but you were nowhere to be found.
