Hi, I'm the newbie here with both my Sonerai II (N610BS) and its Aerovee engine.  My starter has gone bad, and it's clear that I need to remove the engine to remove the starter.  The heads of the starter mount bolts are flush against the firewall, so I see no way to remove the starter without removing the engine.  I've handled lots of small Continentals and other engines, but not sure of best method/location to attach lifting strap/rope to the Aerovee engine.  I saw an online pick with a guy going a different route of using a work table to support the engine from below while mounting it to his Sonex.  So all ears for tips on how best to support or lift this engine to remove and then reinstall.

Thanks,

Wally S

Hi Wally,

Welcome aboard!

I have a Revmaster but there should be little difference.  Just tie a bridal between all four exhaust pipes (diagonally opposed).  The cg may not be exactly under your hoist but the engine will be light enough to adjust for any imbalance with your free hand.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
Chucker
