New to the community!
« on: Sep 07, 2017 »
Hello all, My name is Scott.  I'm currently in the process of acquiring a Sonerai project of my very own.  I'm a journeyman automotive mechanic working for Honda.  I've been into aviation my entire life but never had the chance to go get my CPL and fly the heavy metal for a career.  I'm located in Calgary Alberta Canada.  Hope to learn a lot from this forum and look forward to taking to the sky in my very own aircraft.

I already found one and have started the purchase process.  It's owned by a friend of mine with 2 other airplanes so I was happy to take this one off his hands

Bummer...just kidding! Big congtats. The more I hear of new builders the more I want to finish my Sonerai. Kind of hard though with no place to work...#$$@&&!!!

Pete-

Keep the faith.  I bought a Mustang II this summer from a "gone west" pilot's estate.  Visited with the builder's wife.  She told me that he built it in their rec room on the back of the house.  It was not a big space.  He had three home-built in his garage and backyard.  Many have used similar small spaces, basements, lofts, etc.  I'm renting a small T-hanger for $95 a month and have three aircraft stuffed in it.  You might be able to find a garage for even less.

Here's a link to a video of a replica Tiger Moth built in a NYC apartment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-SdMLfYZgc

Another new guy here.   I just allowed Kennyw to beat me to 994SP.   Smoky has me convinced I need a Sonerai.   When an F-16/RV4/Rocket driver says its a fun airplane, who am I to question that wisdom?

So...I'm looking, but don't really have time for a project right now.   Looking for a flying (or pretty close to flying) 2L.   Any 2L's  in the middle of Texas willing to let me do a fit check?
