Hi,

Does anyone have a template of the fence or box baffles for a VW Engine similar to the ones from AeroVee or Great Plains?

I assume everyone just mock's it up in cardboard first and then applies it to some aluminum before refining it.

While I understand what I am trying to achieve, I am having a hard time getting started on it.

I am trying to build a box baffle for a Sonerai 2LS. I got some 1.6mm aluminum and need to cut a template for a box baffle. I have seen plenty of completed ones online, but haven't seen too many "how to" type articles on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks mate,

Yep, I had seen that one before and it's very helpful especially with some of the tips.

Will have a thorough re-read of it.

Jamd, 1.6 mm (0.063") is much thicker than you need for engine baffles. Not that it can't be done but difficulty in forming is proportional to thickness squared (Ed's Law). I'm currently working on my third generation cooling system, using 0.025" sheet. I think that's what most people use.

Thanks Fellas,

Yep the 1.6mm is going to be tough work but was all I could get my hands on.

I will have a crack at it and see how I go. Got plenty of material left so will probably be a few iterations of the design...

Will use the 1/8" gap and cooling style as per the pic. Good tip about the ramp...

Cheers!
