Cheap scrounger that I am.... I am attempting to install the guts of an old headset and boom mic into my old Navy helmet. The old headset had volume controls on both ears. I am leaving that part out. I hardwired the speakers in mono to the black and green wires. The sound portion works great.
My problem is in wiring the mic. The only configuration that energized the mic was running the white comm cord wire to the red mic cord wire and the white mic cord wire to ground. There was a capacitor across those connections in the original headset so I tried the same. I am getting nasty feedback in this configuration....with or without the capacitor. If I reverse the mic wires....red to red and white to ground, the mic is dead.
Does anybody have a schematic or some experience to offer?
