grain direction on tail ribs?

is the grain direction on the tail ribs critical? wicks and it seems acs doesnt have the appropriate width of material for cross-grain ribs.

where is everyone getting their 4130 sheet from?
 
The grain direction of the steel sheet is not critical. You won’t be making the bend radii tight enough to be a problem. As far as using normalized or annealed sheet, again it’s not a big deal. Actually, mild steel sheet would work just fine for the tail surface ribs. I get my sheet stock from Wag-Aero, but only because they are a five minute drive from my hangar.
