I am trying to separate the flywheel from the crank: 2180, HAPI, SCAT crank. It is safetied with 3 no. 12 allen bolts but appears to be heat shrunk onto crank but I am not sure. There is no gland nut. The only thing on the end of the crank is the mag drive lug. Anyone?

Thanks,
Russell Johnson

It's probably a wedge crank....taper fit. Consult one of the VW parts houses that sells them...or a VW machine shop.... I use VW Performance in Phoenix. Steve is very helpful. (602) 442-8997.

Chucker ... Thanks for the reply. It turns out the mag drive lug which was held on by the allen bolts simply lifted off exposing a gland nut, which was a lot smaller than I expected, considering the torque value it takes. I will keep VW Performance in mind for other issues.
