Kenny,
Yes sir, one of the reasons I installed a new Slick 4316 in the Ultimate 1835 during the restoration with SB compliance. Over the years my Dad (40 year IA) always removed Slick mags at 500 hours for inspection/replacement no matter what. They are great ignition sources but their lifespan, like all of us is finite.
While living in Montgomery AL, I stopped by Kelly Aerospace to drop off my RV4's Single Slick Mag (EI was my other IGN source) for overhaul. Their reps reiterated my Dad's advice. BTW, Kelly offers a one day turnaround on a Slick complete overhaul if you give them advance notice and FedEx it to them, something I highly recommend for yours at 500 hours.
