Just read Sonex's response to this video on YouTube. Looks like it is indeed the result of a builder's failure to follow the plans.

Anyone else seen this video?

I'm not a Sonex builder. Nor, have I flown one, so far. This is some kind of builder deviation from plans, right? Can anyone comment?

Kennyw, I met and talked with the pilot / owner in the video yesterday at an EAA chapter meeting that I have been visiting regularly a couple hours from home. And yes, it does appear to be a (previous) owner / builder deviation from Sonex plans / parts involving a "z bar" linkage from the control horn down to the tail wheel. Apparently the attachment point(s) and part itself deviated from the Sonex design and placed pressure on the rudder attachment points, pulling some rivets. I'm not qualified at all to go into any more detail other than that just thought I would put it out there for anyone interested. I'm sure there will be more information coming via YouTube etc from the owner as he begins to replace the parts and repair the plane.
